Again a pair of 259e oscillators provide the sound sources. Both are set up in tracking mode with the modulation oscillator controlling the morph, and running in hard sync mode. The principal oscillators are in mem skew "b" mode at about 2 o'clock. The results are going through the 292e in LPF mode and then to the 291e to emulate a resonant low pass filter. Buchla running in Moog mode, if you will. Just more tonal stuff for your enjoyment, and to demonstrate the range of this instrument, and the 259e in particular.
Episode 9 of the Scooter McRae's "Mondo Modular" . This time he "plays" with a theremin to create dark soundscapes
Mondo Modular Episode 9
Text from the video :
Step right up, ladies and gentlemen -- this latest episode is presented via the miracle of SUPER-THEREMIN-ATION -- a process that allows the viewer to see for the very first time exactly what is going on INSIDE of a Theremin while the performer is playing. Literally no expense has been spared to bring this technological innovation to the forefront so that you, dear observer, can experience the awe and mystery, the thrills and chills, of having the sounds of the Theremin come to life as if it were in your very own lap!
Enjoy, and don't say you weren't warned when the miracle of SUPER-THEREMIN-ATION materializes and dances right before your disbelieving yet awestruck eyes.
The latest weeks I've been quite busy building a bunch of Yusynth modules, , now my modular system allow me to create more complex patches. This afternoon I've enjoyed trying to recreate a typical Buchal patch on my modular. This is a random patch that I've created trying to emulate the typical buchla patches
This is a random patch that I've created trying to emulate the typical buchla patches . The MFOS is used here as gate generator. In this sequencer you can select gate on/off for every step, here odd steps are on and even are off, the sequencer is in random mode ( step is selected aleatory ) so every new clock signal can generate a gate signal or not :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two signal flow can be distinguished :
1 MFOS Gate - Slew Limiter ( acts as gate delay ) - ADSR1 - VCA1 - OUT
Niose - EMS Filter ( Cutoff modulated by sample and hold and auto oscillating ) - VCA1
VCO2 is modulated by LFO1 that is been modulated by VCO1 ( in LFO mode ) Multimode Filter Cut off is modulated by random signal ( not sample and hold ) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This patch is hard to explain , so if you don't understand it don't worry is just me and my awful explanation :)

Text from the video :
A short video of an annoying patch I've been messing with. Lots of modules used - 3 motm 300's being cross-modulated, getting pitch cv's from the klee sequencer; main clock is the blacet binary zone; clock is being divided by the cgs pulse divider, various odd pulses are kicking several motm 800's which are firing into 3 lpg's, which are shaping the vco's sound; then there's the wogglebug, which is set to this eerie singling clocked setting I found, running through a motm 190 vca controlled by a long ramp wave, then running into a motm 410, feeding stereo outs. Audio captured in cubase, reverb added.
From time to time boobtube356 amaze us with his complex modular patches. Open your ears, and enjoy this sonic landscape.
A-137 and VCO-2RM
Text from the video :
Cwejman VCO-2RM ring mod output. The pair is in sync mode and the Doepfer A-137 Wave Multiplier is processing the sine output of OSC1 before being ring modulated with OSC2 sine using the on-board ring modulator. Most adjustments are made to the A-137 and the pitch of OSC2. The Make Noise QMMG is in low pass gate configuration with the resonance and freq up a little on the first channel. Sequence is S&H LFO to Plan B M14.
A short video of me playing around with a 1 cabinet Roland System 700. This was an experiment to see what kind of sounds I could make without patchcords. :)
Great aleatory patch on a Modcan modular synthesizer ( A series and B series ) . The video just show the modular but has a tender end :)
Sunday Modcan Aleatory
Text from the video :
100% aleatoric (randomly generated) music generated while doing studio maintenance. No MIDI or sequencers are used for composition or playback. All modules are Modcan except for a Cynthia dual ADSR and a Synthesis Technology patch/multiple module.
Artistic video showing Serge Creature's front panel.
Serge Creature
Text from the video :
This is the Serge Creature M-odule by Sound Transform Systems. All sound was generated by the Creature. A touch of delay was added by the Moog MF104 on some sections. Shot with a Kodak Zi6 in Macro.
Variation on Bach's Prelude No 1 for Modular Synthesizer
Text from the video :
Another tune just using sequencers, a Q119, Q960 and an M563. This is another one of my favourite Bach pieces (probably because its on of the few Bach pieces I can play!) It also uses the Analogue Solutions TR-808 and TR-909 drum machine clones, driven by the Superb Moonmodular M563.
I love this kind of atmospheres and drones!!!!! It's perfect to chill on the sofa and do nothing but look to the ceiling ;)

Text from the video :
Another simple test that also ended up as a little peice of 'music'. This time I was trying out the Synthesizers.com Q119 sequencer I recently received. This is my first sequence on it and I liked it enough to try to turn it into 'something'.
See the end of the video for setup details. Thanks for watching, rating and commenting! :-)
This is a video that I've made while I was having fun with my modular system
Having fun with my Synthesizers.com + Yusynth + MFOS 16 step sequencer
Text from the video :
Just having fun with my modular synthesizer. All sounds come from Synthesizers.com and Yusynth noise generator. The sequencer is a MFOS 16 step analog sequencer. Only delay added.
Episode 8 of the Scooter McRae's "Mondo Modular" . Some people said to Scooter "stop talking and play more", so on this video after a brief introduction, he starts to play with his amazing modular equipment.
PlanB Model 15 saw output goes to PlanB Model 12 in LP, high Q mode. Doepfer A-140 modulates the M12 cutoff frequency. Result goes straight to speakers. Percussion sounds are two VCOs being ring modded with the 2 and 6 osc ouptuts on the Doepfer A-117. "Lead" part is the Doepfer A-196 PLL trying to track a VCO that is trying to track the PLL, and the result goes to Cwejman VCEQ-3 (see also PLL Arabesque). Sequencing is Doepfer A-160/161, A-152, and A-138. No manual adjustments made during this clip.
Once again, not musical really but just showing the S&H and Filter on my Polyfusion I will do some musical stuff on it soon. Ex Moog employees built these to higher spec and although some might prefer the character of the Moog, I prefer this sonically and feature wise. The quality is absolutely incredible. 5 VCO, 3 LFO, 2 Lo Pass Filters, 2 Hi Pass Filters, 6 Envelopes (2 voltage controlled), dual ring mod, dual s&h, Voltage Controlled Reverb, Octave Divider, 6 Voltage Controlled Amplifiers, Voltage Controlled Phaser, Envelope Follower, Quadrature LFO, Parametric Equalizer, Variable Formant Filter, Quantizer, 7 Mixers, Various DC sources and Attenuators Plus a Velocity & Aftertouch sensitive Keyboard. This used to belong to Hans Zimmer btw A Sequencer rack would be nice, but hey, you can't have it all!
Another amazing patch with two variations by boobtube356. It's always a pleasure to watch this kind of videos :)
02072009
02072009 II
Text from the video :
02072009 :Doepfer A-117 amplitude modulated by audio rate square wave from A-143-3. Bass kick is Cwejman VCO-6 sine with envelope pitch modulation. Bass part is Cwejman VCO-2RM FM configuration to QMMG. Midrange is Blacet Miniwave. Doepfer A-196 adds some melody to the top. Adjustments being made are to the Miniwave bank select and PLL pitch. Doepfer A-160/1, A-152, and A-138 handles the sequencing.
02072009 II : Same patch, but now Miniwave output level is being controlled by the snare signal, resulting in glitchy sounds. Cwejman PH-4 is modulating the decay of the envelope.
Welcome to Switched on Synthesizer . I've created this blog to share with you my passions ... Synthesizers and Sound Synthesis.I'm not the author of many of the videos and I'm not trying to get credit of them , I just want to share what I think is interesting. I'm not native English speaker so I hope that you can forgive my misspellings.
