Analogue Systems - RS290 Sampler/Delay

The guys "bigcitymusic" always make good synth videos. On this one they make a demo of the Analogue Systems RS290 Sampler/Delay using as sound source an Elektron Machinedrum.

Fun with the Analogue Systems rs290 Sampler/Delay

Text from the video :
  • Here we put a beat from the Machinedrum into the rs290 in 'sample mode' to create a loop.

Using CV outs from an envelope generator you can start and stop playback and recording. We use a third EG to modulate the sample pitch/speed and then try out different waveforms from an LFO. You also have direct knob access to the sample start and end times which can be great for repeater-type effects.

This module has a great digital delay with delay times up to 26.8 seconds and also has a great sounding tape delay mode. You can save presets too! There's also an expander module which gives you MIDI control over sampler functions, the rs295.

Recuerdos de la Alhambra played on a French Connection

Text from the video :

  • After watching the Jean Laurendeau Ondes Martenot video on youtube, I was inspired to seek out an Analogue Systems French Connection controller. It so happens that I came across a used unit, so I jumped on it. I received it two days ago and I was eager (perhaps too eager) to contribute a demo of my new toy to youtube. Yes, my intonation is questionable. My apologies. All the music was generated exclusively with a (primarily Doepfer) modular synthesizer, one monophonic line at a time. This exercise is somewhat of a test balloon for a long form modular project I'm currently sketching out.The original piece is Recuerdos de la Alhambra by Francisco Tárrega
