Novation - Bass Station

In 1993 Novation release the BassStation, a compact and affordable analog synthesizer with two octaves keyboard. Its structure was the typical one for an analog monosynth, 2 VCO, 1 VF , 2 ADSR and 1 LFO. The synth was a big success and two years later Novation launched the rack version that was followed in 1997 by the Super BassStation ( only available in rack version ), that improved the original BassStation design adding a sub-oscillator, noise generator, another LFO and more...

The last adition to the Basstation family was the Virtual BassStation ( 2003 ) , a soft synth that emulates the original BassStation

Novation - Xio Synth 25

    Novation has always been one of my darlings in the world of synthetic sounds.
    This little synthesizer is much more than plastic box with sounds. Its also a soundcard and midi controller. Great for travelling purposes or in the low-budget home recording studio.
    The video shows me playing live and running through some of the presets programmed by various top artists such as: Ferry Corsten, Jamiroquai and Roots Manuva. Minor tweaking and pitching.
    You need to like the sound of Novation and dont expect any analogish sound from this little beast.
    Furthermore its not build like a 70s synth which means the knobs and the case itself is a bit too plastic for my taste.
    But I was (still am) impressed. The soundcard is far better than M-audio, EMU 0202 and other low-budget recording gear. It only needs USB power to run and on top of that a 3 osc synthesizer with a decent sound.

    Value for money.

    EQ, compression and limiter added in the final mix/mastering.
    (Some clipping might occur)

    Please keep in mind that this track was entirely done for showing what sounds you can get from the Novation Xio synthesizer.
