Comparative - ARP Odyssey 4075 - Yusynth ARP 4072

Now that I have at home an ARP Odyssey I've decided to compare the filter with my "Yusynth ARP 4072 filter clone" that I've built few months ago.

ARP Odyssey 4075 filter vs Yusynth ARP 4072 filter clone

• This is a side to side comparative between ARP Odyssey 4075 filter and a Yusynth ARP 4072 filter clone.
  
  It's suposed that the 4075 filter that is installed on the ARP Odyssey is the same filter as the 4072 that was installed on the ARP 2600. I have to opportunity to compare the the original 4075 filter with the Yusynth 4072 clone module , so I've decided to make a comparative.
  
  Synthesizers.com VCO is connected to the ARP Odyssey external input
  Synthesizers.com VCO is connected to the Yusynth ARP 4072 filter clone.
  
  As you can heard the Yusynth module is a very accurate clone of the original ARP filter. Only slight differences can be heard at resonance settings but even these differences can be minimized changing the cut-off and resonance parameters. For example with 80% of resonance in both filters the sound could be not the same but if you move the resonance to 90% on the Yusynth module you could get the same sound.
  
  So the only thing that I can say is... congrats Yves for your great work!!!

Thalasa - Doctor Who Theme Cover

I always liked this theme, it brings me good memories from the eighties when I used to watch this serial, so I decided to make my own version based on the original theme ( this theme was remixed and re-recorded several times along the years ) . The original tune was created on the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

• This is my version of this classic theme from the sixties. I've tried to keep the original feeling using long reverbs , slap echoes ... All the sounds come from my modular synthesizer and they were multi-track recorded. No other synths were used.

Sound Synthesis - Vintage Drum Machine

Today I've made this patch that emulates the sound of the first analog drum machines. The patch is made using a very limited number of modules ( 4 ) of my modular synthesizer and the MFOS 16 Step Analog sequencer. I've enjoyed a lot playing with this patch.

Modular Drum Machine - Synthesizers.com + Yusynth + MFOS

• This patch emulates the classical sound of the drum machines from the 60s-70s
  
  The core of this patch is white noise generator , that is filtered using a multi mode filter.
  The sequencer CV out is controlling the the 1/cvt input of the filter, so you can program on the sequencer different filter response for every step.
  
  The filter has individual outs for filter types, here I'm using high-pass and band pass connected to a mixer and mixer out is conecto to VCA .
  
  The VCA is controlled by one ADSR that is triggered by sequencer gate out.

Synthesizer Performance - Thalassa - Synthevski

This song was composed yesterday ( 18/03/2009 ) in three ours using only the synthesizers.com modular synthesizer. No other synths or drum machines were used, just the modular and a computer with soft sequencer. The drum sounds were sampled and sequenced.

Six different tracks were recorded. On this video I was recording the sound FX track. I know that the video is nothing special , but it's an excuse to upload the music to youtube ;)

This is my first DIY project. Very easy to build, and very fun to use.

• Great DIY module designed by Yusynth. It's a sample and hold / noise generator with a lot of features :
  
  1 - Sample and Hold
  2 - Internal clock source ( sample rate variable )
  3 - Clock out
  4 - White noise
  5 - Pink Noise
  6 - Random signal
  7 - Can be used with external clock signal
  8 - Slew rate ( glide time between pulses on S&H )
  
  Very fun module with a lot of possibilities. This video show only a few, the video quality is poor because is phone camera, the audio was recorded on computer. At the end of the video I added external reverb and delay :)
